Communispond’s Executive Presentation Skills program gives participants the skills and confidence to organize and deliver effective presentations to small and large groups. This 2-day, instructor-led program may be given for a maximum of 12 participants with one instructor and 16 participants with two instructors. Participants will be videorecorded during the program.
Program Outline
Day One
Module 1: Introduction and Baseline
• Introductions and agenda
• Learn what others see and hear
o Exercise: Participants deliver a short introduction of themselves as a baseline of their current skills; videorecorded with individual review
Module 2: Deliver with Impact
• Learn Eye-Brain Control® technique to control nervousness in front of a group
o Exercise: Participants practice Eye-Brain Control® skill
• How to create energy and credibility through voice and gestures
o Exercise: Participants practice putting physical delivery skills together; videorecorded with instructor coaching
Module 3: Organize to Make Your Point
• Recognize the impact of organization and structure
• Define the purpose and desired outcome for your presentation
o Exercise: Participants write specific purpose and outcome statements
• Analyze your audience
Exercise: Participants identify characteristics of their audiences and determine how they impact the structure of their presentations
• Structure your presentation by sequencing your ideas to accomplish your purpose
o Exercise: Participants practice creating appropriate sequences of ideas for pre-determined scenarios
o Exercise: Participants outline the sequence of ideas for their presentations
• Open with impact; how to begin your presentation by commanding the audience’s attention
o Exercise: Participants create and practice an opening “grabber”
Module 4: Presenting with Visuals
• How to use visuals to enhance your presentation
• Identify different types of visuals; tips for making effective visuals
o Exercise: Participants create/revise visuals for their presentation
• How to present with visuals
o Posture and gestures, “clearing,” “Think-Turn-Talk,” transitions between visuals
o Exercise: Participants practice using effective physical skills to deliver visuals to the audience
Homework
Participants refine their visuals and rehearse their 5-minute presentations for delivery on Day 2.
Day Two
Module 5: Working with Your Audience
• Participants rehearse their presentations in small groups
o Exercise: Participants deliver their 5-minute presentations to the full group; videorecorded with instructor coaching
Module 6: Handling Q&A
• How to field questions
• Techniques for repeating and rephrasing questions
• How to neutralize difficult or challenging questions
o Exercise: Participants practice repeating and rephrasing questions
• Answering questions: eye contact, length of response, tie-back to key points
o Exercise: Participants practice taking and answering questions from the group; videorecorded with instructor coaching
Module 7: High Impact Communication Situations
• Learn a 3-step format for giving a briefing
o Exercise: Participants practice using the format to brief a manager
• Use a 4-step format for impromptu speaking
o Exercise: Participants practice speaking on the spot; videorecorded with instructor coaching
